David Smith

William David Smith Jr., 49, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born March 17, 1961 in Winston-Salem, NC to William David Smith and Carolyn (Wells) Smith. David graduated from NC State in 1984 with a BS degree. He was a member of White Plains UMC and Methodist Men’s Group, Lochmere Golf Club, Kildaire Farm Racquet Club and the Wolfpack Club. He was employed by Cisco Systems. He loved playing golf and tennis and was an avid NC State fan. David was a much loved and well respected man with many friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Terri O. Smith of Cary, NC; father and mother, Bill and Carolyn Smith of State Road, NC; brother, Alan Smith and wife, Mary Katherine of Cary; sister, Lori S. Trexler and husband, Matt of Winston-Salem, NC; several nieces and a nephew.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010 at White Plains United Methodist Church in Cary. Burial will follow at Wake Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., Saturday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary.
