Charles R. Creech

Charles was born November 7, 1943. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ava Elaine Ivey Creech, and his two sons, Dr. David C. Creech (Kristen) of Pittsboro, N.C., Cammie and Brody, and Daniel K. Creech (Sharon) of Cary, N.C, Ava, Ally and Lily Creech, and sister-in-law Faith Ivey Dean.

He grew up in the Benson area. He was a “BIG” sports fan, playing all-conference basketball during high school. He was an excellent student.

He graduated from Benson High School and Hardbarger Business College. Charles had a wonderful career in the insurance industry that spanned over 40 years. He retired from BB&T Insurance in 2006 as a Vice President and Account Executive.

Charles has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 50 years, where he served in various callings, including the scouting program. He also completed two service missions and temple service with his wife Elaine. The first mission was coordinating adoptions for the church in North and South Carolina adoption programs. The second mission was working for the NC Raleigh Mission assisting with housing and mission vehicles, but his real joy came from the association with the young missionaries.

During retirement Charles enjoyed spending time with his family at the family’s home in Holden Beach and at the Ivey farm in Benson.

A memorial service for Charles will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1811 Seabrook Avenue, Cary, NC 27511. A graveside service will occur Monday, January 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Apex Cemetery, 315 W Williams Street, Apex, NC 27502.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles' memory may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1001 Blair Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603.
