Oliver “Brett” Hood, 57, passed away on October 7th, 2024, in Raleigh, NC. Brett was born to Robert and Barbara Hood on September 27th, 1967, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and was the youngest of two children.
He had a love for the hospitality business, bartending at My Martini Grille (West Palm Beach, FL), the Arboretum in Charlotte, and most recently serving as Bar Manager at Bocci Trattoria and Pizzeria. Brett’s passion for his trade coincided with the relationships he built at work. Wherever he worked, Brett had a crew of dedicated regulars that came not only for food and beverage but also to chat with their favorite bartender. Brett enjoyed inviting his family to visit while he worked. During his tenure at Back In The Day Cafe in Cary, he hired his nephew, Christopher, igniting his interest in the hospitality business. The comradery Brett built inspired Chris to stay in the industry for five years.
Brett was a wonderful brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many. He took pride in his family, had a big heart and always made people feel welcome. Whenever someone in the family was in need, Brett was quick to come to their aid. He loved a good story and those that knew him delighted in his gruff sense of humor. Brett will be deeply missed by his family and friends!
