Alice moved to Cary in 1966. As she raised her family, she began a career working in the pharmacy at Rex Hospital in 1977 where she met many lifelong friends. Alice retired from Rex Hospital in 1996.
To know Alice was to love her, and her generous heart was obvious in the way she loved her family and friends. She had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh, and her laugh was contagious. The family enjoyed yearly beach trips, and she reveled in the sense of togetherness it created for her family. It would be hard not to think of her when visiting Ocean Isle. Even in her final days, she was the glue that brought her loved ones together.
Alice loved working in her yard and tending to her many plants and flowers. She was a member of the neighborhood garden club. She volunteered in her children’s schools and extracurricular activities. Alice loved animals and especially the birds that came to her many birdfeeders which she kept full for them. She believed that when you saw a cardinal that an angel was close by. Alice believed in putting others first and an honest day’s work.
She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Barrow and Nellie Mae Moore and her brother C.B. Moore, Jr., all of Lynchburg, VA.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Hillsgrove, of Cary NC, and her children Mark Hillsgrove (Donna) of Chapel Hill, Steven Hillsgrove (Diane) of Cary, David Hillsgrove (Becky) of Mooresville, and Robin M. Ramger of Apex NC. She dearly loved her grandchildren Ryan, Benjamin, Kelley, Jonathan, James, Anastasia, Macie, Hayes, and her greatgrandchildren Atlas and Ari.
The family will gather privately to celebrate her life.
