Alan Wood

Alan was born in Dallas Pennsylvania to the late Professor Ernest and Florence Jenkins Wood.

From an early age, Alan was a hard worker. He began working at age 13 working on farms, or even delivering papers. He graduated from Dallas High School, before serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the military, Mr. Wood attended Wilkes College and Elmira College for nine years. He completed his education with a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Accounting and Commerce and Finance. Alan worked as a Business planner for IBM for 25 years.

Alan served as Sunday School Supt, Deacon and elder at The Dutch Reformed Church in Saugerties, NY. He also served as a Deacon and Elder at The Cary Church of God.

Alan is survived by his son Alan Wood, Jr. and his wife Dee; granddaughter; Alayna Wood; Step-Children Corrine, Greg, and Eric; and a sister Lois Cook.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Cary, 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511. Burial will take place at a later date in Dallas, Pennsylvania.
