It is with sadness we announce the passing of William Marcus Collier, Sr. and gladness knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus. Marcus was born January 1946 to P.W. and Margaret Anderson Collier in Ohclocknee, GA. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Lee Smith, while in college. After serving honorably as a crew chief in the United States Air Force, he graduated from Berry College with a degree in Industrial Arts. He taught a high school work study program for 27 years. He loved to hear stories of success from his former students. Marcus loved his family and was a proud grandfather of six grandchildren. He never met a stranger and loved people. As a young man he was ordained as a deacon, and he loved telling people about his Savior Jesus. He served faithfully as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Gideon. Dad loved to hunt and fish with his boys and grandkids whenever he could. He was an avid gardener, furniture maker/restorer, and tinkerer.
Marcus was preceded in death by his parents P.W. and Margaret Collier, brother-in-law Avon and sister-in-law Carol Jane Wetherington, brother-in-law Jimmy Kierce, and nephews Carley Wetherington and Michael Kierce. He is survived by; wife of 54 years, Donna Collier, his eldest son Marc, daughter-in-law Shawn and their children Jackson, Riley, Ethan, Meredith, and youngest son Donnie, daughter-in-law Jenny, and their children Abe and Lily. Also surviving Marcus is his two sisters Suzanne Kierce and Carol Stillwell and daughters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday the 9th of October, 2022 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Marcus’ cousin, Charles Law, Jackson Collier, Riley Collier, Ethan Collier and Jeff Harris.
Honorary pallbearers are Marcus’ neighbor, Charles Law, Wesley Hann and Jerry Jackson.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family for one hour prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.
