Tamela Chastain

Tammy was born on December 27, 1958 in Rome, GA, daughter of Robert and Patricia Chastain.

Tammy was a born again Christian and proud member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a medical transcriptionist for several local area hospitals, including Cartersville Medical Center and Floyd Hospital. Tammy learned to play the piano at an early age and then developed a “by ear” style on her own. She loved playing the piano at church and for her family and friends. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and spending quality time with her family, especially her nephew, Larkin Chastain.

Tammy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Chastain, Sr.; grandparents, Johnny and Jessie Padgett and Ernest and Claudia Chastain.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Chastain; brother, Robby (Carrie) Chastain; nephew Larkin Chastain.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 19th of April, 2023 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robby Chastain, Rev. Johnathan Padgett and Rev. Joey Phillips officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Larkin Chastain, Jeff Southern, Tony Burt, Griffin Padgett, Clarence Borck, Jr. and Lee Tidwell.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until eight on Tuesday, the 18th of April, 2023 at Owen Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tammy’s honor to Zion Hill Baptist Church, PO Box 4093, Cartersville, GA 30120.
