Dianne was born on October 13, 1950 in Cartersville, GA, daughter of the late Floyd Tumlin, Jr. and Bonnie McCollum Tumlin.
Dianne’s father was one of Cartersville’s police chiefs and her mother was Cartersville’s first female meter maid, later known as a police officer. Being the daughter of two people who dedicated their lives to the service of their community, that life style was easily passed down to Dianne. She attended Gupton-Jones Mortuary College where she received her diploma in Mortuary Sciences. She then served as a funeral director at Owen Funeral Home for thirty-one years, where she cared for thousands of families in Bartow County through their most trying times. She was a strong and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who fiercely protected everyone she knew. She cherished the holiday dinners she would cook for all of her family and extended family and would regularly count down the days till the holidays came. She always had a pot of fresh coffee on and a cup in her hand. She was a member of the Baptist faith and in her earlier years she attended several churches in the Cartersville area. Her red hair, her smile and her quick wit will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, David Woods; daughter, Nicco Duncan-Lilge; brother, Michael Tumlin; great grandson, Leonardo Duncan.
Survivors include her son, Cary Morris; brother, Steve (Angela) Tumlin; grandchildren, Taylor Norton, Levi (Abigail) Duncan, and Gage Morris; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Norton, Teaghan Reeves, Aubrey Duncan, Liam Duncan and Luka Duncan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at eleven-thirty in the morning on Monday, August 14, 2023 in the Chapel of Owen Funeral home with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Levi Duncan, Gage Morris and Chris Charles.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family for one hour prior to service time at Owen Funeral Home.
