Max was preceded in death by his brother, Maury Tatum
Max is survived by his wife, Janet Tatum; three children, Terri Warlick of Cartersville (Graham) Randy Tatum of Dalton (Mitzi) and Jennifer Garner of Rockmart (Bob); 9 Grandchildren, Jason Shaw, Tatum Shaw, Joshua Tatum, Jessica Tatum, Hannah Hart, Caleb Tatum, Logan Garner, Parker Garner, and Lola Garner; 6 great-grandchildren and his sister, Madelyne Arnold.
Born in Bartow County, Max grew up on his family’s farm by the Etowah River. His mother, Retha Tatum and his two aunts, Henrietta and Martha, raised him. Max was graduate of Cass High School, where he met his wife Janet. He owned his own Industrial Supply Company which he retired from and then worked part-time at Owen Funeral Home.
Max was a devout Christian and member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and as part of the jail ministry. By sharing his testimony, he led many to Christ.
He was a talented artist, loved to draw, read, and study his Bible. We will miss his sense of humor, his strong sense of character, and his sweetness. Max loved his family more than anything and we are going to miss him so very much.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.owenfunerals.com for the Tatum family.
