Max was born on August 27, 1932 in Lobelville, TN, son of the late Earl DePriest and Mabel Leeth DePriest.
Max graduated from Goodlettsville High School in 1950. After graduation, Max proudly served his country in the Tennessee Air National Guard and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Max attended Lipscomb University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1956. He worked as an accountant with Ford Motor Company in Nashville, TN from 1956 until 1989. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants.
Max was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and served as a deacon at Edgefield Baptist Church in Nashville, TN and also taught the high school boys Sunday School class. In his later years, he was an active member of Cartersville First Baptist Church.
Max attended a painting class at the Hope Center and grew to love the art.
Max and his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Peggy DePriest enjoyed traveling the world, visiting all fifty states, sixty countries and six continents.
The great joy of his life was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Max is preceded in death by his brothers, Olan DePriest, Lucian DePriest and Hayden DePriest.
Max is survived by his wife, Peggy Deasy DePriest; son, Leeth (Machele) DePriest; grandchildren, Lindsay (Ben) Carter and Lauren DePriest; great-grandchildren, Evie, Nora, Karsyn and Kaylee Carter; several nieces and nephews are also surviving.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 18th of January, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Barker officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Leeth DePriest, John Stein, Gary Brock, Greg Garner, Matthew Scott and Tony Scott.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from twelve o'clock in the afternoon until the hour of service on Wednesday, the 18th of January, 2023.
