Matthew Barrett McAfee

Matt was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Laurie Barrett McAfee and Robert Lance McAfee, Sr. on February 8, 1986.

He was a graduate of Cartersville High School and Georgia Northwestern Technical College. He was employed with his father in Alexander City, Alabama as an airship technician. He had previously worked with Chaparral Boats, Inc. in Nashville, Georgia as a robotics operator. Matt loved spending time with his family, friends and his dogs. He loved to draw, write poetry and also had varied interests in mechanical hobbies.

Matt is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Captain and Mrs. Frank M. McAfee and his maternal grandfather, Robert Curtis Barrett.

Matt is survived by his mother, Laurie of Cartersville and his father, Lance of Alexander City, Alabama; his maternal grandmother, Sally Barrett; his siblings: Robert and Heather McAfee, Molly and Chris Rabenold, Lauren and Jonathan Pressley: his niece and nephews: Katelyn, Mason, and Tyler McAfee, Mack and Grant Rabenold, Harris and Marshall Pressley as well as extended family including many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 4:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Matt, may make donations to First Presbyterian Church, 183 West Main Street, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
