Martha Lou Wilson

She was born on April 13, 1939 in Bartow Co. to the late Ernest and Inez Anderson Cox.

Martha is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Wilson, Sr.; sons, Charles Wilson, Jr. (Jessica) of Cartersville and Ricky Wilson of Cartersville; grandsons, Britt Wilson of Cartersville, Stephen Wilson (Lorrie) of Cartersville and Charles, III “Chaz” Wilson ( Morgan) of Columbus, GA; great-grandson, Charles, IV “Walt” Wilson; sister, Elizabeth Fountain (Murphy); nephew, Lynn Fountain (Chris) and niece, Lane McMillan (Michael).

Martha was a Final Four participant and All-State guard in 1957 and Salutatorian of the Class of 1957 at Cass High School. She was a bookkeeper and accountant at Dan River Mills, Tal-Ral Inc., and New Riverside Ochre. For over 30 years, she served as the Deputy Tax Commissioner of Bartow County. In 1978, she was nominated as Bartow County Business and Professional Woman of the Year.

Martha was a devout Christian and charter member of Faith Methodist Church. She loved her family and time with friends, making crafts, gardening, the beach, traveling and line dancing

Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 beginning at 12pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm from the chapel of Owen Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers will be: Britt Wilson, Chaz Wilson, Stephen Wilson, Tyler Brookshire, Mick Pyle and Mark Hibbard

Honorary Pallbearers: Murphy Fountain, Jack Nally, Mitchell Scoggins, Mike McMillan, Lynn Fountain and Steve Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Faith Methodist Church (General Fund), 501 Grassdale Rd, Cartersville, GA 30121.
