Marian Morris Rogers, age 87, of Cartersville, Georgia died peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2018. Born, November 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Louise Williams Morris and M. W. (Pete) Morris. Mrs. Rogers was a lifelong resident of Cartersville, graduating from Cartersville High School in 1947 and Wesleyan College in Macon in 1951.
She married Nelson K. Rogers, also of Cartersville, in 1953. He passed away in 2013, shortly after their 60th wedding anniversary. Marian was a homemaker and faithful member of Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church throughout her life. She was a loyal friend to many, a strong encourager to her family members, and she loved to read, solve puzzles and trade verbal puns.
Marian was predeceased by her daughter Kimball A. Rogers of Nashville TN and is survived by her sons, Edward M. Rogers (Jeanette) of Roswell GA and James M. Rogers of Marietta GA; grandchildren Kyla Rogers Mantzel (William) of San Diego CA, Matlock Nelson Rogers (Nathan Randall) of St. Louis MO, and Kirby Rogers Darden (Brian) of Alpharetta GA; Lavon Napier of Nashville TN; brother Col James W. Morris of Cartersville; a great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, 100 W Church Street, Cartersville, GA 30120 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 with Rev. Kevin Lobello and Rev. Nena Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall between 12:00 and 1:45 p.m. on the day of the funeral.
