Linn B. Mercer

Linn B. Mercer – Age 86, of Cartersville, GA passed away on December 14, 2024. He was born in Cartersville, GA on August 27, 1938, to the late George Langston and Allie Kelly Mercer. Linn was also preceded in death by his brothers, Willard, George, Hubert, Bennie, Marvin and A.L. Mercer.

Linn is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Ross Mercer; son, Keith Linn Mercer (Tiffany); grandchildren, Alexander Linn Mercer and Haylie Nicole Mercer; sister, Florence Starnes (Lamarr); special niece, Connie Mercer and several other nieces and nephews.

He was a 1959 graduate of Cartersville High School. While Linn was working at Union Carbide , he was drafted in the United States Army in October, 1961 where he spent three years serving our country. When he returned home, he spent the remainder of his working career and retired from Union Carbide.

Linn was a member of Brandon’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a great man, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Linn enjoyed camping, traveling, gardening, and hiking. He and Martha hiked every trail on the Tennessee side of the Great Smoky Mountains. Following retirement, Linn remodeled houses with longtime friends. He ultimately loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren and working outside with his grandson.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 5-8pm at Owen Funeral Home. Family will also gather on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 12pm with a Celebration of Linn’s life at 1pm at Owen Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Shepard and Pastor Ronnie Cowart officiating. Pallbearers will be: Alexander Linn Mercer, Michael Mercer, Chris Mercer, Brian Mercer, Allen Ross, and Mike Teems Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
