He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Fronebarger McMillan; son, Sammy “Ryan” McMillan and wife Jody; daughter, Leslie Rae McMillan; grandson, Chayse McMillan; granddaughter, Peyton McMillan; brother, Bobby McMillan and wife Sandra; several nieces and nephews.
Sammy was a native of Bartow County, he attended Cass High School and served in the United States Army in Korea. He retired after 37 years from Lockheed Martin.
He loved all his family and providing for them was always priority in his life. In his early years he loved drag racing, old trucks and cars, hunting and being outdoors. Sammy had a special devotion for the old McMillan home place where he spent countless hours maintaining the property. He never missed the blooming of the jonquils every February on the grounds. He also cherished taking care of the Vaughn Cemetery.
A Celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Josh James and Rev. Corey Martin officiating. The interment will follow at White Cemetery with Brad Owens, Dale Temples, Tim Martin, Brant Martin, Cole Jackson, Parker Martin, Johnny Ray and Jake Walker serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
