Dewey Alfred Holmes Jr.

Dewey A. Holmes Jr, affectionately known as “Bubba”, age 59, passed away on February 13, 2022. Dewey, son of Dewey Alfred Holmes Sr. and Shirley Duell Waits, was born on August 31, 1962 in Aurora, IL.

Dewey always enjoyed living a simple life. He was a family man who loved caring and providing. Dewey had a heart of gold and didn’t judge anyone. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR, fishing in the lake and was a fan of Georgia Tech. Dewey spent over thirty-two years at the United Hardware Company in Emerson, Georgia. He always gave his best for anyone throughout all aspects of his life. He was truly loved by all and will be deeply missed.

Dewey is preceded in death by his father, Dewey Alfred Holmes Sr.; step father, Wiley Waits. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Waits; loving wife of twenty-seven years, Pamela Holmes; sons, Erik Holmes, Dustin Holmes, Bradley Holmes, and Nicholas (Bekah) Holmes; daughters, Amanda Holmes, Jennifer Parker and Jessica Heifner; brother, Billy Holmes; sister, Mary Holmes; step-sisters, Sharon Holmes and Terri Warner; thirteen grandchildren and many loving extended family members and friends to cherish his memory. Dewey had a love for all animals, but a very special place for his furbabies, Chloe, Pheobe, Beau, and Rosie. In lieu of flowers, the Holmes family request donations to be made in Dewey’s name to the Bartow Humane Society.
