Cathy Anita Minter, 72, of Sandersville, Georgia, (Formerly of Cartersville, Georgia) went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at the Redmond Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Cobb County, Kennesaw, GA, she lived all but one year of her life in Georgia. She was proud to be called a “Georgia Girl”.
She became a Christian at an early age and was involved in teaching Sunday School and Children’s Ministries for many years. She had a deep love for children and many children were positively influenced by her teaching and care. She was nicknamed “The Candy Lady” at different churches where she volunteered because she would reward children with candy, after church, as a positive reinforcement for good behavior. She was a beautiful soul who loved unconditionally. She was a dutiful and loving Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She loved to crochet and shared her beautiful creations as gifts to family and friends. Cathy worked for 26 plus years and retired from the State of Georgia Revenue Department. She enjoyed light gardening, really loved playing board games and putting puzzles together with her nieces and nephews, but especially loved going fishing with her family.
Miss Minter is preceded in death by her Father, Bishop Sherman H. Minter, her Mother, Jaunita McCoy Minter and Grandparents.
She is survived by two Sisters and two Brothers: Brenda Minter (Donald) Dial of Manor, GA, Raymond H. (Helen) Minter of Rydal, Shermanda Greenway- (Mark) Kloos of Cleveland, TN, and Kenny H. (Debra) Minter of Sandersville; Ten Nieces and Nephews: Anita Dial (Eddie) Smith of Villa Rica, Tim (Amy) Dial of Brandon, MS, Lori Minter (Jack) Morris of Brooklet, GA, Eric Minter of Panama City, FL, Shaun (Theresa) Greenway of Cleveland, TN, Jason (Kristi) Greenway of Etowah, TN, Mark Greenway of Cleveland, TN, Caleb Minter of Plainville, GA, Jessa Minter of Sandersville, GA and Shannon Minter (Caleb) Steinkamp of Milledgeville, GA.; She has 18 Grand Nieces and Nephews and Eight Great-Grand Nieces and Nephews. She is also survived by two Aunts, Elizabeth McCoy Weatherston of Rustburg, VA, Martha McCoy Worley of Calhoun, GA, one Uncle, Harold McCoy of Kingston, numerous Cousins and a host of Friends.
The Family will receive Friends on Thursday, February 14 from 5 to 8 P.M.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 15, at 2:00 P.M. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville. Officiating Ministers are Danny Hix, Jason Greenway and Jerry Smith. Pallbearers are Tim Dial, Shaun Greenway, Mark Greenway, Caleb Minter, Chase Greenway, Eddie Smith, Evan Dialand and Caleb Steinkamp.
