Beverly Head Moore – Age 87 of Acworth passed away on December 17, 2024. She was born March 18,1937 in Cartersville, Georgia and was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Leecy Head. Beverly is survived by her loving son Russell Moore of Atlanta, brother Charles Head, sister-in-law Ann Head of Ellijay, brother Joe F. Head, sister-in-law Debbie J. Head of Cartersville, nieces LaCretia Head LeCroy, Peggy Head Donaldson, and Meredith Head Bruno.
Beverly was a graduate of Cartersville High School where she played drums in the marching band. She grew up in the former Gilmer Street Baptist Church and is currently a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. Following high school she worked in the clerical field at Lockheed, became a real estate agent, and owned Beverly’s Antiques in Acworth.
Beverly was best known for her fondness for the American west and vintage cowboy movies. Her heroes were Roy Rogers and Dale Evans having met them on several trips out west. She attended western cowboy film conventions where she could be seen with western movie celebrities and TV stars such as Ken Curtis (Gun Smoke) Johnny Crawford (Rifleman) and, actually hosted a party at her home for western film star, Lash LaRue.
She had a cute personality and added life to any party especially if it had a western theme. Beverly loved the Booth Western Art Museum where she volunteered as a docent. She was invited to speak at schools and community events about the west and its many legendary personalities. She was proud to have had horses and rode them in many parades.
Beverly was extremely proud of Bartow County's history and was a member of the Etowah Valley Historical Society. She enjoyed traveling out west and her trip to Europe where she saw the site of where the Sound of Music was filmed.
Friends and family are invited to gather Sunday December 22, 2024 at Owen Funeral Home. (770.382.3030) Visitation will be between noon and 2:00pm with the service to follow. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pastor Scott Shepard officiating. The family would like to especially thank cousins Jodi Hill Hewatt and Vicki Hill Brown for their loving support in caring for Beverly.
