Bernice was a member of Sam Jones United Methodist Church and volunteered countless hours assisting the kitchen crew whom she loved dearly. Her helping spirit and devotion to Christ enabled her to utilize her gifts of service and her giving heart in assisting in many outreach programs associated with the church. During her working years, she was employed in the banking business while, at the same time, helped in the operation and ownership of the family grocery store. Her serving hands and heart were admired and respected by all who knew Bernice.
Her pride and joy were her family. As mom, grandmother, and Big Mama, she dedicated her life to ensure her family was loved and cared for. She had the uncanny ability to remember and share details from years past that brought smiles and happiness to her family. She has always been a source of cheer and comfort. We will forever be grateful for her love, compassion, great huge heart, baking skills, gentleness, perfect role model, and kindness. The family sincerely expresses gratitude and appreciation for the tender loving compassion the skilled staff of Townsend Park expressed to Bernice during her final earthly days.
