Faye “Arlene” Delwisch passed in her sleep June 5, 2024 and was ushered into the beyond by the love of her life. Arlene was born August 12, 1937 to Charles Elmo Kane and Charlotte Garner in Fresno, CA. She was the third of four children. In 1942 her adoptive father Don Taylor moved the family to Carson City, NV. Arlene married her first husband Tom Roach and had two children (Revella 1954 and Tom 1956.) After the dissolution of this marriage Arlene once again found herself living with her parents. One Friday after work she gracefully walked into her favorite bar for a drink only to discover a gentleman was occupying her usual seat; that dashing stranger was Karl “Bud” Delwisch. After an evening filled with conversation and wonder Bud took a chance and asked Arlene to escort him on a drive to drop off his load of waste at Area 51 the next day. Regardless of her father’s resistance and insistence “it was a bad idea” she trusted her gut to join him on the journey. It didn’t take long for them to know that they were each other’s soulmate and they soon married on May 22, 1965. In true Bud and Arlene fashion of stubbornness and fortitude Bud delivered their only child (Karlene) March 17, 1966 in the back seat of their Rambler on the side of the road in Steamboat, NV.
Arlene lived a life of hard work and perseverance, dedicating 36 years to the State of Nevada (NIC, SIIS, and EICON) doing workers compensation claims. No family celebration was ever complete unless she wowed everyone with one of her famous desserts. Her home was a place that you felt loved and safe. You could count on her to cook you your favorite meal, sneak you a cookie when you shouldn’t have it, save the coins you told her about once, and make sure every grandchild had their own flavor of ice cream. Most weekends would include going to the lake, hunting, or just reading a good book. She loved deeply but always made sure you minded your manners and treated others with respect. She will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her in their lives.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan and Nadine, brother Charles, husband Bud, grandson, son in law, great grandson and several other family members. She is survived by her daughter Revella Ruschmeyer (Max), son Tom Roach, daughter Karlene Johnson, 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and 9 great grandchildren.
