She was born September 6, 1933, in Edom, Texas, daughter to the late Mervin and Vadie Molloy. She met and married William “Earl” Cox, after meeting on a double-blind date at a young age. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage and raising 4 children together.
Velma will be remembered for her “perfect” hair, the hugs she gave freely to everybody she met, the unconditional love she showed to perfect strangers, the giving of coats off her back, literally, and her soft-spoken tone. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her and she will live on in our hearts.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Mervin and Vadie Molloy and her husband, William “Earl” Cox.
She is survived by her sons; Billy Cox, wife, Heidi – Savannah, TX, Kenneth Cox, wife, Lisa - Carrollton, TX. Jimmy Cox, wife, Debbie – Collinsville, TX Daughter, Patricia Cox Sparks – Houston, TX. Sister: Bonnie Duran – Tyler, TX Brothers; Charles Molloy – Tyler, TX Loyd Molloy, wife, Barbara – Tyler, TX. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
A visitation for will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Northside Baptist Church, 2000 Denton Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006.
A service of remembrance, officiated by Rev. Mark Dallalio, will occur Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Northside Baptist Church 2000 Denton Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006. Burial to follow, 1:00 PM,= at Hilltop Memorial Park, 1810 N. Perry Road, Carrollton, Texas 75006.
