Eddie was born December 18, 1945 in Vallejo, California to Edgar and Ada Bell Carter. He was the oldest son of six siblings (two older sisters and three younger brothers) and grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas. After finishing school, he pursued his first love, rodeo, and joined as an RCA Cowboy riding bulls. Eddie’s love of rodeo stayed with him throughout his life. In July 1967, Eddie left the rodeo life and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for three years, including three tours in Vietnam as Marine Recon, and was Honorably Discharged in August 1970. Once his service was complete, Eddie began a lifelong career driving 18-wheelers cross-country as well as a hauling rock. When he wasn’t on the road, he could be found spending time with his brothers, his children, and grandchildren. A long-time ladies man, Eddie loved to flirt, and right up to the end he could be seen chasing nurses down the hall in his wheelchair.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ada Bell, as well as his brothers Ike and Don, and his sister Mary. He leaves behind two children, Michelle (Craig) Walters and Brandon (Jennifer) Carter and 3 grandchildren, his brother Roy (Kathy) Carter, his sister Betty, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
