Dorothy G. Ross

Dorothy Glynn Dorris Ross, of Mineola, Texas, passed away September 26, 2023. Dorothy was born January 20, 1927, in Air Mount, Mississippi to Dalton Vance Dorris and Zelma Inez Smith. She married Kenneth Gordon Ross Jr. May 3, 1947, in Hernando, Mississippi. They moved to Dallas with their children in 1957. Dorothy retired from Texas Instruments in 1992 where she worked as a lab technician for 34 years.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 50 years KG, stillborn daughter Rebecca Josephine Ross, brother Dalton Darrell Dorris, daughter Linda Ross Bench, granddaughter Rebecca Rene Bench, and grandson Cole McFarland Shook.

Her greatest joy was creating beautiful things to share with those she loved. She inspired and was always happy to teach and share her talents with others. She had a green thumb, loved to quilt and sew, and her famous pies were always in high demand.

Known as Granda by everyone, Dorothy is survived by her sister Joy Dorris McGehee of Bruce MS, children Kenneth Gordon Ross III (Mary Lou Shook Ross) of Mineola TX, Steve Everett Ross (Belinda Cirili Ross) of Coldwater MS, and Twila Ross Gerhauser of Dallas TX; her grandchildren Tammy Vaughn, Kendra Ross Richins, Gordon Ross (Tami), Kelly Shook Lautenslager (Brian), Kyle Shook (Stefanie), Garrett Gerhauser and Taylor Gerhauser; 18 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and 7 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 South I-35E, Carrollton TX 75006.

The committal service will be Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Hilltop Memorial Park, 1801 N. Perry Road, Carrollton TX 75006.
