Canon A. Harrison Lee III, Rector Emeritus of Christ Church Episcopal in Dallas, passed away peacefully on March 5. Born in Fort Worth on March 11, 1932, to Alfred Harry and Lillie Mae Lee, he received his BA from TCU, his MA from the University of Alabama, and his M. Div. from the Episcopal Theological School. From 1959-1961 he was on staff at St. Paul's, Durban, Natal, South Africa. He was Metropolitan Secretary of the United Society for Christian Literature in London in the years 1962-1965. From 1965-1970 he was the Rector of St. Luke's, Denison, and Dean of the Northern Deaneries. He was Rector at Christ Church, Dallas, 1970-1994.
He was a member of the Board of Examining Chaplains, the Executive Council of the Diocese of Dallas, and served simultaneously as Chair of the Commission on Ministry and the Committee on Constitutions and Canons of the Diocese of Dallas. He was honored to be a Trustee of the Seminary of the Southwest and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross in Dallas. He served two terms as Dean of the Dallas Deanery.
He loved to travel and frequently hosted trips abroad.
A Memorial Eucharist will take place on Saturday, March 12, at 11:00 at Christ Episcopal Church, 534 W. 10th Street, in Dallas. By the request of Fr. Lee, the Rt. Rev. James M Stanton will preside at this Celebration of Life. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Bishop Mason Mausoleum at Saint Nicholas Episcopal Church 4700 Wichita Trail, Flower Mound Texas.
