Mary E. Ray, age 83, of Fishers, Indiana passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Mary was born on August 16, 1940 in Atlanta, Georgia to Ellen (Brown) Bicknell and Albert Jeffers.
Mary earned her associates degree in computer programming. She worked for many years in apartment management.
Mary was a member of the Hamilton County Democratic Club, Hamilton County Women's Club-founder and first president, Indiana State Democratic Party, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the HCDC, named President Emeritus for HCDWC and named the 2006 Woman of the Year from the HCDW.
Mary had a love for dogs, especially her baby Taz. She is survived by her dog, Leo.
Mary is survived by her son Larry D. Hollingsworth; her daughter Vanessa S. Lee; her son David L. Ray; and her son Frank L. Ray, III; her sister Joyce Moore (Bob) and her brother George Gene Jeffers. Mary is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Ellen (Brown) Bicknell and her father Albert Jeffers; her brother Sandy Jeffers and her sister Naomi Jeffers.
A celebration of life for Mary will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032.
