On Monday, September 17, 2018 Kevin Richard Clancey age 69, lost his courageous battle with Parkinson’s. He departed this world surrounded by his wife and children, enveloped in their prayers and love. Kevin will be forever remembered by his wife of 30 years, Carol, and his loving children, Katherine (Christopher) Bosma, and Alanna Clancey. His memory will be cherished by his brothers Mike (Myrna) Clancey, Brian (Jacki) Clancey, and Sean (Mala) Clancey, brothers-in-law Steve McBride, Kevin (Jan) McBride, Paul (Gabe) McBride, Jim (Sharon) McBride, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his “fur” family, Rosie and Calvin.
Kevin was born February 7, 1949 in Lakehurst New Jersey to Robert and Carol J. Clancey. As the son of a Navy Pilot, Kevin moved frequently throughout the United States, which helped forge his outgoing and engaging personality. He attended Eastern Michigan University and University of Detroit receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA respectively. Kevin began his professional career joining General Motors Corporation at its Technical Center. He became a labor relations representative and progressed through a series of labor relations and personnel positions at several GM plant and divisional locations. Included in his experience were management assignments at the Willow Run Assembly Plant in southeastern Mich.; the former Inland Fisher Guide Division plant in Adrian, Mich,; and the former AC Rochester Division in Flint, Mich. He was named personnel director at the Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems’ Flint East Site and was later promoted to director of human resources for Delphi Chassis Division in Dayton, Ohio. Capping his career, Kevin was promoted to Vice President Human Resources at Delphi’s Electronics and Safety Division headquartered in Kokomo, Indiana. Throughout his career, Kevin was very involved in numerous community organizations and non-profit groups. He was generous with his time and talents supporting communities and those in need.
In his retirement, Kevin was involved in the Grace Church Care Center working in the food pantry, Bolt for the Heart Board member, and the Indiana Parkinson Foundation. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his children, and working out diligently at his Parkinson’s gym, The Climb.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at Leppert Mortuary – Smith Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, IN 46032 on Sunday, September 23, 2018, from 2- 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s name to the Indiana Parkinson Foundation, 14350 Mundy Drive, Suite 800, #181, Noblesville, IN 46060.
