Joshua Dale Hammond of Carmel, Indiana passed away too soon at the young age of 40. Born September 20, 1983, he was the beloved son of Dale and Patsy Hammond.
Josh had the biggest personality that perfectly matched his big heart. When he walked into a room, people often took notice. His smile being contagious, his laughter infectious and his swagger was on point.
Sports has always been one of Josh’s greatest loves. As a little boy, Josh started reading at the age of 3, often reciting baseball cards and stats from the sports page of any newspaper. All this while eating cereal, striking baseball poses and pretending to hit grand slam homeruns. This passion continued all through his life.
It has been said that coaching is a calling and Josh definitely found his calling when he became “Coach Josh”. He created a wonderful network of friends, players, teams, and coaches within the girls’ softball community. They became his second family. His love and enthusiasm for coaching, teaching, and mentoring the girls created an incredible impact that the girls’ softball community will never forget. #2clapsandaricflair #besthypemanever
Josh was one of five children to Dale and Patsy. Growing up in a large household, there was never a dull moment and there was always a lot of love. Josh is survived by his parents; sisters, Lisa Rae Hodge (Bobby) and Teresa Olson (David); brothers, Kevin Hammond (Ellen) and Jeremiah Kincaid (Amber). His nieces and nephews who thought he was the “coolest uncle” will miss his vibrant, competitive and funny light up the room personality.
