84, of Carmel, Indiana, died Friday, December 9, 2022. Gail was born May 14, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to the late Marshall and Pearl (Plagman) Gillespie. As the daughter of an executive with Goodyear Tire Corporation, Gail grew up and attended schools in many places around the world including, England, Luxembourg, and South Africa.
After raising her children with her first husband, Donald J. Feick, Gail pursued and earned her teaching degree from Radford University in Radford, Virginia in 1987. Following graduation, she moved to Carmel, Indiana and subsequently accepted a teaching position at St. Simon the Apostle School in Geist. She enjoyed every moment of her twenty years there before retiring.
Gail loved the arts from a young age. She was a longtime and familiar face at the Carmel Symphony Orchestra and enjoyed playing her piano. Gail always looked forward to attending Broadway during her many trips to New York. She was an accomplished golfer and played often.
She was a longtime member of Woodland Country Club where she loved playing golf with friends and volunteering for their Christmas Club. She was also a member of Carmel United Methodist Church, Quester’s Ladies History Group of Carmel and several Bridge clubs over the years. Gail also volunteered at IU Medical Center in Carmel after retiring from teaching.
She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen (Curtis) Cain, Pamela (Michael Callanan) Feick & Scott (Heather) Feick and their father, Donald J Feick. A beloved brother, Donald (LeeAnn) Gillespie; adoring grandchildren, Maj. Christopher (Melissa) Cain, US Army, Justin (Chelsea) Ligoncain, Benjamin (Gabrielle Zoccola) Cain, Zachary Feick & Nolan Feick and great-grandchildren, Everlee Cain, James Cain & Ainsley Ligoncain; nieces & nephews, Beth Gillespie, Donna Gillespie, Linda (Carlos) Marina and their children Fiore & Javier; Marshall (Megan) Gillespie and their son Crew & Laura (Joel) Unrein and their son Charlie She is also survived by the children of her second husband, Cindy (Kevin) Wickham and son Hunter; Debbie (Thad) McCulloch and daughter Ashley with grandson Camper. As well as a host of lifelong friends and former grateful students.
Gail was preceded in death by her second husband, F.M. “Jim” Gentry and her devoted Golden Retriever, Sasha.
Gail will be buried in a private ceremony at Rose Hill Burial Park in Akron.
A Celebration of Life for Gail will be held at Woodland Country Club (100 Woodland Lane, Carmel, IN 46032) on Saturday, April 1st from 2 - 4pm.
Memorial contributions in Gail’s name are suggested to Woodland Country Club Christmas Club, Alzheimer’s Association or to Carmel Symphony Orchestra.
