Annette Marie (Salciccioli) Post, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at the age of 85. She was a resident of Prospect, Kentucky, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Carmel, Indiana.
Annette was born on April 24,1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to Jerry and Grace Salciccioli, their only child. She was a first generation Italian-American and from a young age, learned the value of hard work and customer service. Annette loved helping shoppers at Cameo Dry Goods, her family’s small store on East Seven Mile. She made lifelong friends at St. Rita’s Catholic School and was blessed to be surrounded by her extended family with many aunts, uncles and cousins living nearby.
She went on to the University of Detroit, where the city girl met the love of her life, Jim Post, one of 10 children raised on a farm. Though they grew up in different worlds, their unique perspective and outlook set the stage for a 58 year marriage that was rich with love, laughter, and knowing when to compromise.
Annette was thrilled to be a part of Jim’s large family and grew very close with many of her brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews, with late nights spent laughing around the euchre table.
Annette enjoyed a long career and continued volunteering well into her 80’s. She especially enjoyed her 15 years at the Taubman Company, a shopping mall developer, which was right up her alley. Annette had a knack for finding bargains and loved sharing her insights about shopping, especially over a glass of white wine.
With a close group of friends, she traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe on an annual girls trip which spanned more than four decades. Planning for their next adventure started as soon as they got home. She treasured every minute of it.
Most of all, Annette loved people. Her curiosity in others and desire to connect was genuine and, to the never-ending amazement of her family, could strike up a conversation with just about anyone in any setting. It was another chance to make a new friend, and Annette had many, from all walks of life.
Annette is survived by her three children: Michelle Evans (Erik), Jim Post (Mari Schreiber), and Jerry Post (Kris) and eleven adoring grandchildren: Zach (Lindsey), Jake, Jessica (David), Ella, Maria, Owen, Eden, Reilly, Sophia, Danny, and Gabby. In her final days, she was overjoyed to meet her two newborn great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Sienna.
Annette will be remembered for her generosity, her devotion to family, her love of a good find, and her ability to make every gathering special with her presence. Her spirit, grace, and love will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation for Annette will be held Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Carmel, 900 N. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Rd., Carmel, Indiana 46032.
