Uncle Dick,
Growing older and moving away meant we did not see much of you in the past few years, but when we did have a visit, you were the same as always ... that old Teddy Bear, that liked to put on a crusty old skin. I appreciated your attitude in life and admired you for always having a huge interest in your family and always being there for them! You leave a huge empty spot in the lives of your loved ones!

My fondest memories of Uncle Dick, are when I was younger. We would visit Arcola, and the highlight was always going out to the backyard to see what animals he had. He loved those fluffy bunnies!
One secret he told me he would keep ... I must have been about 14 years old, and he let me take Derryl's dirt bike for a rip in the field in the middle of town. Well, I dumped it on it's side and scraped it up a bit. He said not to worry,  Derryl probably wouldn't even notice it. ...so we just went and fed the rabbits.

The man that always had a quick smart answer to anything.
He taught me the skills of how to get under people's skin and poke fun at them.... Always with a playful attitude of course.

My condolences to all of Dick’s family. I have memories of him as a man with a big smile who loved to tease. I recall a time when I was in grade 5 (Mrs Gardner’s class) and I had just got a new 4-H ring that I was so proud of. I was twirling it around on my finger and it popped off and went down the register vent. Several days later, Dick presented it to me as he had went hunting for it. It was a kind act that I have never forgotten. I’m so sorry for your loss.

RIP…….  You have always been apart of my life. 
Classmate Derryl  dad, you were at school always… janitor… at the rink , you coached me in ball , at the bar.   
We laughed, talked , teased, solved the world problem,,, usually at Teds … I will miss you😢

Sincere condolences to Colleen and the family. Dick was my first custodian when I started my career in Arcola! He took pride in our school each day and he always had time to chat. I appreciated that he had high expectations of us, staff and students, and made us accountable in helping keep our school clean. After retirement he always had a smile for me and time for a chat.

Dick was just an absolute great person to be around, and although it’s been a few years since I saw him, I have very fond and positive memories that will be with me forever.  Arcola was made better because of you.

Our sincere condolences to you, Colleen and all of your family!  I truly believe I would never have lasted in teaching as long as I did without Dick’s willingness to listen to my rants after school every day!  He was one of the best when it came to looking after the school.  After he retired he continued to tease me whenever he saw me and wave when he was driving by.  I will surely miss him!  Hugs to you all.❤️
