Milton Edward Coleman, Jr. passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cape Coral, Florida on Sept.13, 2021 at theage of 62.
Eddie was born in Rock Hall, MD on March 1, 1959 and graduated from KCHS in 1978. He was recognized as an outstanding athlete in wrestling and football and received many awards. He wrote poetry and had an incredible artistic ability.
Eddie earned his BS degree in Recreation and Leisure Activities and Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He began his career with the Baltimore City Police Department in 1987 obtaining the rank of Sergeant, retiring after 20 years of service. He spent two years in Iraq employed by DynaCorp training Iraqi security officers.
Upon returning to the states he made his home in Florida where he met his wife Darcy. He worked for Pool Doctor as a repairman, Ed’s love of people and an eagerness to make a difference in other’s lives led him to receive his Florida teaching certification. He was employed as a Critical Thinking Teacher for the Lee County School District. He enjoyed many leisure activities throughout the years especially dragon boat racing. He will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, mischievous smile, quick wit, and the ability to make everyone he met feel special.
Ed was devoted to his family and to his faith. He was an active member of the Crosspoint Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Darcy, his two children, Britney Coleman, Glen Burnie, MD, and William Edward Coleman, Brooksville, Florida, three stepchildren, Shawn Welsh, Ryann Mehlrose and Ashlei Menter and four step grandchildren, Gabriel Mehlrose, Kara Welsh, Judah Mehlrose, and Jemma Welsh, three sisters Diana Long (Coley) of Chestertown, MD, Carolyn Jones (Chris) of Galena, MD and Lori Wheeler (Len) of Chestertown, Md. He was predeceased by his father Milton Edward (Buddy) Coleman, mother June Mench Harn and stepfather Bill Harn.
