Ken Rankin, 77, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away at home Wednesday, February 5, 2020. He was born on August 18, 1942, in Washington, D.C. and lived most of his life in Maryland. He worked as a journalist reporting on government regulatory matters. Ken moved to Florida in 2004 to live by the water and enjoy his convertible. Ken traveled extensively throughout his life enjoying numerous Caribbean and European vacations. A highlight of these many travels was a return to his mother's homeland of Germany where his was warmly welcome by relatives. Ken was a poker enthusiast, who traveled as often as he could to favorite city - Las Vegas - to play in tournaments. Ken also enjoyed playing in local card games in the Cape Coral community with his son and others. Ken was well known and appreciated for his sense of humor and generosity, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lois, and his children Jennifer (Jamie) and Kent, and beloved grandchildren. Ken also leaves behind two sisters, Diana and Elaine. A private celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date.
