Jane Elizabeth (Clark) Hemingway passed away on April 21, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina after a brief illness. Jane was born in New Haven, CT on March 1,1931. She married the love of her life, the late Ralph Hemingway on August 1, 1953. They moved to a farm in New Lebanon, NY, where they lived for almost 40 years.
She graduated from Quinnipiac College with a degree in Medical Technology in 1959 and went on to be a medical technologist working at Albany Medical Center for over 25 years. Jane and Ralph moved to Lehigh Acres Florida in 1996 and lived there until Ralph’s death in 2017. She loved knitting and crocheting, playing bridge and leading Bible Studies in the Independent Living Centers she lived in in Charlotte.
She was the mother to four children, the late Ralph III (Suzy) of Richmond VA, Alice Wright (Doug) of Yardley PA, Clark (Susan) of Clayton, NC, and William (Theresa) of Charlotte, NC. She loved her 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who all have worn or cuddled with the many knitted or crochet items she made with love.
A private graveside service is planned for April 27 at 2 pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home & Cemetery in Cape Coral, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or Morehope.org.
