Irene started in the medical field as a “candy striper” at 15 years old and then worked as a nurse’s aide to pay her college tuition. She worked as an RN in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC and various hospitals on Long Island, NY, mostly in the ER.
Irene moved to Ft. Myers, Florida in January 1981 and worked at Ft. Myers Community Hospital in the ER. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in March of 1981.
She started teaching at Edison Community College as a professor of nursing while continuing her work in the ER. She received two Master Degrees from USF, Masters in Education and Masters in Nursing with ARNP, while teaching at Edison.
Last job for Irene was as an ARNP at Ruth Cooper Center for Behavioral Health Care along with a second job doing psychiatric evaluations.
Those that predeceased Irene are her husband and love of her life, William Hodge Ennis; brother, John Warburton; brother, Charles Warburton; parents, Irene C. Warburton and W. Kenneth Warburton.
Irene is survived by niece, Laura Fratarcangeli (Dan) and two children; niece, Michele Warburton; brother, Kenneth Warburton and many friends and cousins
