Bruce Edward Hopkins

Bruce E. Hopkins, 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on November 26,2020. He was born April 2, 1950, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Claude & Jackie (Warren) Hopkins. Bruce graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1968. Following graduation, he studied at JJC and went on to serve 27 years on the Lockport Township Fire Department as a Paramedic and Firefighter III. He retired in 2000 as a Lieutenant and moved to St. James City, Florida where he enjoyed boating and riding his Harley Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey. He is survived by his son, Kevin (Tunisia) Hopkins of Bolingbrook, IL; his daughter, Kim (Ralph) Ortiz of Cape Coral, FL; 7 grandchildren, Khalen, D’Anthony, & Kameron Hopkins, Sofia, Emma, & Olivia Ortiz, and Nathan Haney; 1 great grandchild, Makai Hopkins; 2 nephews, Paul (Melisa) Hertzmann and Brad (Laura) Hertzmann; several aunts and many cousins. A service of remembrance will be held in Lockport at a later date.
