Joyce went Home to our Lord Jesus Christ, the One who first loved her, on January 6, 2018 in Athens, Texas.
She was born on October 5, 1950 in Greenville, Texas to Thomas Eugene Holt and Frances Juanita Heavin.
Joyce grew up in Garland, Texas and graduated from Garland High School (’69). She married James in 1971, and they enjoyed 46 years of companionship and love. Her children grew up in a home filled with love and the devotion of their Mom who unceasingly desired the best for each of them. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She shared her love for I Love Lucy with each of them, teaching them how to laugh. She wrapped them in her “made with love by Grandma” crocheted blankets, holding them close in the arms of love. She steadfastly prayed for each of them by name, kindling faith, hope, and love in their souls. Her servant’s heart extended out into the community through her active church life, most deliciously through the Wednesday night meals she prepared at First Baptist Canton. Her faith in Christ sustained her throughout her life, and her deepest desire of all was for the love of Christ to dwell richly in the hearts of those she loved.
