Ronald Glenn Carroll

Ron passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on November 22, 1946 in Byromville, Georgia, to Willis and Mamie Carroll.

Ron grew up in Georgia and went into the Air Force immediately following his high school graduation. He was stationed at the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Ron served a tour in Vietnam and was in the Air Force Reserve for eight years after his discharge. In 1974, he married his true love, Sharon Smith. Ron worked as a police officer for several departments in Texas. One of his proudest positions was as a motorcycle officer for DFW. There he escorted many presidents and other well-known people when they visited the Dallas area. Ron later became Chief of Police in Lindale and then for the city of Canton. His time serving the public spanned more than 34 years. In his free time Ron enjoyed raising cattle. He loved riding around the pasture and caring for his stock. Ron enjoyed going on trips and deep sea fishing when he had time. Ron loved his family and to him, family was the most important.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Carroll; daughters, Lisa Carroll, Laura Robinson and husband, Howard; son, Wilson Pipkin and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Madison, Chase, and Hannah Pipkin; brother, John Carroll.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mamie Carroll; four brothers and one sister.
