Michael Doyle Basham

Michael Doyle Basham, 67, of Canton, Texas passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. He was born on November 19, 1957 in Anderson, Indiana to William Robert Basham and Margie Ruth Long Basham.

Mike had family roots in Tennessee. He was from a large family of 10 boys. Mike’s family moved to Texas when he was a young man. He never forgot his roots and family bonds.

Mike was passionate about cars. He built “hot rods” as a young man. His passion continued into a long career as a mechanic; even building little “hot rods” (electric battery cars) for his grandchildren! Mike was an honest hardworking man. He never cheated a customer and always took care of their cars and keeping them on the road. Mike was kindhearted and always the first to step up to help someone in need. Mike enjoyed fishing when he wasn’t under the hood of a car. He loved time with grandchildren. Mike was a devoted husband and loved his family.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margie Basham; brothers, Kenneth Basham, Joe Basham and Darryl Basham.

Those here to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Charlotte Basham; sons: David Basham, Mark Basham, Brandon Basham; step daughter, Melody Brinks; grandchildren: Jersey, Basham, Alexis Basham, Gavin Basham, Anthony Basham, Morgan Basham, Ezra Brinks; brothers: Dennis Basham, Gary Basham, Rodney Basham, Ronald Basham, Harold Basham, Bryan Basham; a host of other family and friends.

The family thanks you for all your prayers and support during this time and will hold a Celebration of Life memorial service at a later date.
