Linda went home to the Lord on September 1, 2021. She was born on July 6, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Boyce Smithart Duke and Francis “Sim” Duke. Linda grew up in Northeast Texas and graduated from Sunset High School, class of 1959.
Linda’s family was the most important thing in her life. She was known as Mom to her children, Grandma to the grandchildren and Grand-gran to the great grandchildren. She loved family get-togethers and made sure everyone was included whether they were family, friends or last-minute drop-ins. She actively participated in the lives of her children and grandchildren, attending and enjoying every possible concert and competition she could.
Linda’s love for God was evident in her every-day life. She prayed daily for and with her family. Her servant’s heart was seen and loved by those around her as she helped with church youth events and participated in her own class activities. In her later years she often drove those who couldn’t to church and any appointments as needed.
Linda gave freely to others, helping put together care packages for those less fortunate and taking her grandchildren shopping to buy gifts for Operation Christmas Child and the Angel Tree at Christmas. Linda enjoyed playing card games, reading, music, seeing plays and traveling with friends. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sim and Boyce Duke; Siblings, Anita, Jerry and David Duke.
Linda is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Cindy and Andy Ransom; son and daughter in-law, Chuck and Mary Partridge; grandchildren, Scott and Rachel Partridge, Leslie and Jason Brian, Lindsey Pool and James Nichols, Chris Partridge, TJ Partridge; great grandchildren, Joseph and Piper Partridge, Brantley and Kinsley Brian, Annabelle and Luke Nichols; siblings, Marilyn Parker, Pat Burrow, Wanida Duke, Joyce and David Porterfield.
