A memorial service for Joe Dean Brown, 74, of Dallas, will be held at a later date. He passed away surrounded by his family February 5, 2019 in Dallas. He was born in Edom on April 29, 1944 to Joe Franklin and Anna Mae Dike Brown.
Joe grew up in Dallas. In 1962, he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Donna Kay at W.W. Samuell High School. The couple were married February 21, 1964. Joe and Donna raised three daughters, Dawn Renee, Deanna Kay, and Deedra Lenay. Joe was a devoted family man. He adored his grandchildren; Kelsey & Anthony, Andrew, Tierney, Haley, Heath, Layne and his great grandchildren CorliDean and Jacqueline with Katerina due in March.
Joe was a 1963 graduate of W. W. Samuell High School. He retired as machine shop superintendent from Crane Plumbing in 2007. Joe was hard working, loyal, kind, considerate, loving, compassionate, honorable, a true gentleman, humorous, wise, inquisitive, dedicated to family and friends. Joe was a native Texan; Texan first, American second. He loved football especially high school and college ball. Longhorns! Hook'Em! He enjoyed guns, driving his tractor, history, geography, music, cars, Nascar and boxing. Often the prankster on more than one occassion he took out mom's flowers with his favorite weed eater with just a hint of a grin.
In lieu of flowers dad reqeusted a donation to one of his favorite charities; St. Jude Children's Hospital, Wounded Warrior, Shriner's Children's Hospital and Disabled Vets.
