A committal service will be held for James Aubrey Waller Sr., 76, of White Settlement, Texas at DFW National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.
James passed away peacefully on November 7, 2020 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on April 10, 1944 to Henry Orval Waller and Jimmie Frank Petty Waller.
James proudly served in the United States Army. While stationed in Phu Vinh, Vietnam with the 162nd Assault Helicopter Company he suffered injuries from mortar during two separate assaults. The last mortar attack left him with a traumatic brain injury. James was awarded two Purple Hearts. He lived a determined and courageous life with steadfast faith in God, his family, and country despite his resulting disability. He learned to walk, talk, read and write again. He received a liver transplant in 1993. James inspired then and now everyone he met. He was a gifted and avid photographer, whose photos were published in the local newspaper and many school albums. His pictures were appreciated and enjoyed at his liver transplant reunions, many different bluegrass festivals and bands, as well as by his large extended family.
Beloved husband to Sue for 55 years, who he shared every moment and created many beautiful memories from camping trips, bluegrass shows, Disney and even recently a family cruise. They completed each other. James was a beloved father to Suzanne, who was a daddy's girl, and her husband, Ronnie. Beloved father to son, James Jr., who was his best friend, and his wife, Amanda. James has six granddaughters who he dearly loved, Katie, Karlie, Alexis, Lauren, Chloe and Summer.
James taught by example and showed everyone around him what it meant to never give up. His passion for life was unmistakable.
James is survived by his loving wife, Nellie Sue Waller; children, Suzanne Lindley and husband Ronnie, James Waller Jr. and wife, Amanda; his six beautiful granddaughters; sister, Jimmie Kilpatrick; brother, Henry Orval and many nieces and nephews, who adored him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Orval and Jimmie Frank Waller; sister, Elizabeth Waller; brother, Bobby Waller; brother in-law, Bob Kilpatrick and sister in-law, Nikki Waller.
His family is grateful for the love and support of so many friends
