Also known to many others as Jim or Jimmy, Jimmy Fred, Freddy, Frederickson, Lip or Lippy. Some even called him T-Post, but that is a story for another day and time. Regardless of what you called him, if you knew him, you loved him.
He was the life of the party. There was always a story that he was ready to tell, and everyone in his audience was guaranteed to be belly laughing by the end of them all. If you weren’t laughing with him, you were laughing at him. He must have been given 9 lives, because if it could happen it was guaranteed to happen to Jim.
Jim was born on November 25, 1963, in Streator, Illinois, a son of the late Donald J. and Mary M. Liptak. He moved to Texas at the age of 14 where he met the love of his life, Ralene Wilson. The high school sweethearts got married on June 25, 1983. Together they lived in Crandall, TX where they raised their two children, Kyle and Miranda. He had a profound love for his family and was always ready to show off their pictures and accomplishments.
Jim was wrapped around the fingers of his four granddaughters, Ava, Aisley, Brynlee and Lawsyn. He was the best Papa a little girl could ever have, and he loved them all more than anything in the world. Though the girls will miss their Papa endlessly, he gave them a lifetime of love and so many fun memories for each of them to forever cherish.
He was a hard worker on the clock and off. Jim was employed by Southwestern Bell (later named AT&T) for 38 years. Due to illness, he retired from the company in December of 2018.
He was a Master Mason and had a passion for helping others. Jim dedicated a huge piece of his heart to the Royse City Lodge. He later became a Shriner and joined the Shriners Clown Unit which brought many children and adults joy. He also enjoyed spending time in his garage listening to music and doing woodwork. He was an impeccable craftsman and was always building or working on something. Jim also loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and boating. As long as he was around family, he was more than happy.
Jim had a way of making everyone feel like they were a part of his family. Most of all, he made sure that anyone who stepped into his house felt loved and safe, no matter where they came from or where they were going. No matter the situation, if you needed help, he was there. He was a great man that was filled with true wisdom and his heart was filled with pure gold. It isn’t what we leave behind, it’s what we leave in people’s hearts that counts and he certainly left his mark on all that were blessed to know him.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mary Liptak; brothers, Rick and Gary Liptak; niece, Cory Kreitzer.
A funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
