Gary Morris House, best known as Brother Gary, was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, & pastor who went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
He was born on September 13, 1945, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was active in Youth Ministry at Second Baptist Church which laid the foundation for his life of ministry and serving others. He was a proud Trojan and graduated Hot Springs High School in 1963. He was honored to represent his school and hometown as an American Legion Boys State Representative where he developed a love of his country and desire to serve others.
Brother Gary graduated Ouachita Baptist University where he met the love of his life, Lola Jane Clayton. They were married June 24, 1967, in Berry Chapel on the Ouachita campus and celebrated 48 years of marriage. Following graduation, he served his Nation with distinction receiving an Honorable Discharge as Captain in the U.S Army.
Always looking to serve others, Bro. Gary spent 41 years having been privileged to serve as Pastor of the following churches in the Baptist Missionary Association of America:
1975 thru 1979 – Grace Baptist Church, Wynne, AR

Bro. Gary spent his life spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ and devoted himself to serving others. You may not have always remembered his sermons each Sunday, but you would always remember that in your time of need he was there. Every year on the first Sunday in December, which marked his anniversary in ministry, he would preach from his favorite verse John 3:16. He lived what he preached, and preached what he lived.
He kept this reminder, “The Preachers Prayer” in every Bible he had, and sums up his ministry better than any words could express.
“The Preacher’s Prayer”
“I do not ask that crowds should throng the temple. That standing room be counted worth a price; I only pray that as I voice the message They may see Christ.
I do not ask for pomp in the church, or pageant, or Music such as wealth alone can buy; I only pray that as I voice the message He may be nigh.
I do not ask that men may sound my praises, Or flaming headlines spread my name abroad;
I only pray that as I voice the message Hearts may find God.”
John 3:16 - - For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.
