A private graveside service will be held for Eva Marie Finley, 89, of Plano, Texas. Eva passed away peacefully on September 16, 2023, in Allen, Texas. She was born on September 23, 1933, in Rotan, Texas, to William Hoyle McCright Sr. and Maybelle Stephens McCright.
Eva grew up in Rotan, one of ten children, where she was active in the Choral Club, a varsity cheerleader, and played basketball and volleyball for the Rotan Yellowhammers until graduating in 1950. She went on to Texas Tech University, where she met James Finley, and received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1954. She and James married on March 7, 1954, and were married for 69 years, enjoying a full and happy life together. They raised two children: Rhena, born in 1956, and Randal, born in 1958.
Eva had a six-year teaching career at the Wills Point ISD elementary school, teaching fourth and fifth grades. She and James also grew a successful health and nutrition business, through the Shaklee Corporation, for many years, and Eva served as a Charter Member of the Canton Rotary Club. She and James were longtime members of Teel Church of Christ in Canton, Texas, before relocating to Plano, Texas.
Eva loved her family and was especially proud of her grandsons and great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Granever”. With her outgoing, friendly nature and infectious sense of humor, Eva was known everywhere she went and brightened the days of everyone who encountered her. Eva loved being with people and was never too busy to lend a listening ear or lend a helping hand. Eva also loved to sing hymns, attend Bible studies, and share her strong faith. She will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, William and Maybelle McCright, and her son, Randal Finley.
Her memory is cherished by her many friends and family: husband, James Finley of Plano, Texas; daughter, Rhena Lang, and husband, Jeff, of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Andy Lang, and wife, Anne, of Starkville, Mississippi; grandson, Todd Lang of Aubrey, Texas; great-granddaughter, Margaret Lang and great-grandson, Jamie Lang, both of Starkville, Mississippi; sister, Nell Railsback of Idalou, Texas; and a host of other friends and relatives.
