Bobby was a kind and gentle man, cleverly disguised as a grouchy curmudgeon. Kids and animals were always the first to figure him out. He was much loved by his family and was looking forward to moving to Beeville to spend more time with his adored great-granddaughters.
In his prime, Bobby Day was probably the most sought-after gym floor expert in North Texas. He sanded and refinished Reunion Arena, Highland Park, Allen ISD, and everything in between. He was proud of the 47 years he spent with Trinity Floor Company in Dallas. Bobby credited owner Harold Reid with the opportunity and guidance to live a happy and productive life.
Bobby spent his retirement years assisting Cassy and her friends in the Gun Barrel Quilters Guild with their annual quilt show. He was always among the first to show up and the last to leave.
Over the years, he and Cassy rescued dogs, cats, and a trio of beloved pot-bellied pigs collectively known as the Wild Bunch. When he was working, BJ the poodle mix went everywhere he did.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Cassy; daughter, Cissy Brashear; bonus children: Kendra Kinnison and Jessica Pedraza (Chris Cornell); grandchildren: Ashley Greer, Cody Greer, Mariah Whitworth (Jordan), Lincoln Cornell, and Ben Cornell; great-granddaughters: Kolby and Kansas; nephew, Jeffrey Petty (Marsha); and long-time friends: Marshall and Vickie Ragle, Randy and Danene Gallagher, and Sabrina “Hot Rod” Kirkland. He is also survived by the Wild Bunch.
The family is thankful for all the love and support during his recent health struggles, for Dr. Kevin Nixon of Christus Clinic of Canton and his wonderful colleagues that worked very hard to keep Bobby healthy for many years, and for the teams at Christus Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler for the exceptional care they provided in his final months.
The family will plan a casual memorial to celebrate his life and remember all the good times at a later date.
