Billy Joe Phillips

Billy Joe Phillips, age 62, of Terrell, Texas passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at his home. He was born September 12, 1961, in Wills Point, Texas to Basil Imanuel Phillips and Wanda Ruth Williams Phillips.

Billy married Teresa Morgan on November 6, 1981. He lived in the Turner Hayden Community until 2003 when they moved to a gated community in Terrell. Billy was Baptist by faith. He was a very selfless and generous man who always was willing to help others. Billy owned and operated his own fire protection business. He enjoyed working (tinkering) on projects. Billy loved spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his daughter, Brittany Phillips; parents, Basil and Wanda Phillips; sister, Diana Phillips; father-in-law, Charles Lewis; mother-in-law, Mildred Lewis; sister-in-law, Robbie Douglas; nephew, Justin Douglas; and brother-in-law, John Lewis.

Billy is survived by his wife, Teresa Phillips; two sons: Derek and Kristie Brown and Cory and Amanda Phillips; they adopted their daughter, Mattie McKenzie-Phillips, seven years ago. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Brandice Phillips, Cory Joe Phillips Jr., Dylan Underwood, Hayden Brown and Alyssa Brown; niece, Robin Dorman; great-niece, Averie Foster; great-nephew, Jaden Dorman; sister-in-law, Francis Lewis; nephew, Tim and Sherrie Lewis; niece, Stacy; and their children; niece, Ashlyn Douglas; nephew, Matthew Douglas; brother, Robert and Kyra Phillips; niece, Caitlyn Phillips; sister, Linda and Calvin Oglee; niece, Jamie and James Durban; great-niece, Emmylou Durban; brother, Charles and Deborah Phillips; and nephew, Brandon Phillips.

A funeral service for Billy will be held 2 pm Friday, October 6, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, Texas, with Bill Bateman and James Bateman officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Derek Brown, Cory Phillips and Richard Underwood, Dylan Underwood, Rusty Cockerham, and Chris Childers.
