Wil was born in Waco, Ohio on February 14, 1931 to the late John and Pearl (Phillips) Marker, Jr. He was a graduate of Canton South High School. Wil was married to Gladys (Schupbach) Marker from December 10, 1955 until she passed on June 22, 1989. Wil later married Joanne Shellie on January 4, 1997, who survives. Wil volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and valiantly served as an artillery gunner during the Korean War. Wil had various vocations that included car mechanic, farming, Snap-on tool sales, and long-haul trucking. During his retirement, he continued to buy and sell vehicles and flag poles. Wil had a passion for car racing, woodworking, restoring Ford trucks and tractors, and rebuilding flathead V8 engines. Wil was also a member of the Masonic Temple, Grand Lodge of F. & A.M of Ohio, Canton Lodge No. 60.
Along with his wife, Joanne, Wil is survived by his adopted children: Michael Marker, Martha (Jeff) Woollard, and Margaret Seward; his stepchildren: Pamela (Dave) Grim, Michael (Cindy) Shellie, Krista (Lon) Shellie, and David (Karen) Shellie; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sisters: Dorothy Ann (George) Schuster and Marie Conrad.
Along with his parents, John and Pearl, and his first wife, Gladys, Wil is preceded in death by his brothers: Bob Marker and Jim Marker.
A graveside service will be held for Wil at Sunset Hills Burial Park on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with military honors being performed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Wil's name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America at secure.pva.org.
