Rose Marie was born on January 19, 1931 in Stow, Ohio to the late William and Mary (Liptak) Erdos. She lived in Kent most of her life, until she married Anthony Angelo on December 27, 1952 and joined her husband in Canton. Rose Marie was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Kent. She received her Bachelor's of Education at Kent State University and her Master's of Education at the University of Akron. She taught second grade students for many years, then she became a prescriptive reading teacher who taught struggling readers to become proficient readers. Rose Marie was a member of the National Education Association and the Ohio Education Association. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Church of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Canton. In her early years, she was a successful pianist, who later taught piano to individual students. When Rose Marie was a young mother, she loved to sew and would make clothing for the family and herself. Rose Marie was an avid reader and a movie film buff. She loved to go out to lunch with her family and friends. Hungarian bakers are known as the world's best bakers, and she was one of them around the holidays. She loved animals and always had one or two cats in her home for companionship.
Rose Marie is survived by her son, James (Teresa Stuban) Angelo, her daughter, Carolyn Angelo, her sister, Shirley (Joseph) Betkoski, her goddaughters, Maria (Joseph) Leone and Rebecca Angelo, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Rose Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, two infants daughters, Beverly Jean and Mary Ann, and brother, Donald Erdos.
Calling hours for Rose Marie will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 6:00-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Church of St. Francis of Assisi Parish at 1530 11th St SE, Canton, OH 44707 on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Father Thomas Bishop and his sister, Darla Bishop, of St. Anthony's for all their spiritual support over the years, to Teresa Stuban and nephew, Michael Angelo, for both standing in as caretakers when needed. The family would also like to thank The Emmons family (especially Maria Leone) for being lifelong friends. Thanks for all the fun, entertainment, and support. They would also like to thank the staff at the Inn at Belden Village, assisted living, where she resided this past year. Rose Marie loved the games, entertainment, crafts, and great food at the Inn. Thank you to Mercy Hospice staff for making her last days comfortable. They would also like to extend a very special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other staff member on the 10th floor of CCF Mercy Hospital. All of you were top notch because of your passion for excellence.
