Barbara Ann Helaney

Barbara was born July 23, 1938 in Canton, Ohio to the late Benedict and Levia (Ross) Rossi. She was an avid church goer and loved singing to the Lord Jesus. Some things she loved were holiday times with the family-especially Christmas, soaking up the sun and cuddling with her cats. Throughout her life she explored various crafts including ceramics and jewelry-making, always with a keen eye for quality and detail. Her creative expression eventually found its passion in floral design where she became a member of Canton Garden Center and Garden Clubs of Ohio. She studied to become a floral-design master judge, traveling the state to give classes and judge garden club shows. She lovingly used her skill and knowledge of floral design to help with her grandchildren’s weddings, adding precious memories to the events. She added some spice and humor to many family conversations and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Helaney; and brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Linda Rossi. Barbara will be missed by her children, Michelle (Michael) Mulligan, Joseph (DeAnn) Helaney, John (Nancy) Helaney, Jason (Gretchen) Helaney, Monique (Kenny) Clark; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Rita (Fred) Henning; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 12:00pm in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call two hours before the service from 10am - 12pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
