Michael was raised in Randolph, MA and was the son of the late Anita (Resnick) and Philip Gottfried. Michael was the beloved husband of Stacey (Polikoff) Gottfried and father of Sara (Gottfried) and her husband Mike De Pons. Brother to Diane Gottfried Bernat of Tampa, Florida and Jeffrey Gottfried of Hull, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Michael was a graduate of Randolph High School and North Adams State College. He spent the majority of his career in information technology, working for a variety of tech companies which afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively. In 1992, Michael married the love of his life, Stacey Polikoff. He met Stacey in the summer before college, dated all through college, and was married for 32 incredible years. Together they built a family and life filled with love. Michael was a devoted father to his daughter Sara who was recently wed to Mike De Pons. His absolute greatest joy is his daughter Sara and seeing her marry the love of her life gave him a sense of peace and comfort.
Michael was an avid cyclist, thoroughly enjoyed maintaining his home and yard, and always had a computer or two that he was working on. He loved traveling and family vacations. He and Sara would enjoy long bike rides together through Cape Cod, Thanksgiving hikes at Borderland State Park, and was always the voice of calm and reason when needed most. He loved reminiscing about the 80s, Nantasket Beach, and the many jobs he had at South Shore Plaza in his teens. In the summer you would find him sitting on a chair in the backyard enjoying the fire pit. He was a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of guy, had a great sense of humor, was always smiling, and was as easy going as they come. He could fix just about anything and it pained him to have to call a “professional”.
